Many people have asked me, why do I paint famous faces?
Well, this morning I was enlightened. As I sat staring at the face and caressing the countenance of my precious little 6 year old while sleeping, it all made sense.
We love to gaze into the face of that person whom we love. Yes, a photo of those cute little baby feet or hands of the engaged couple are precious, but if we’re honest, we really want to stare into those eyes and study the curves that make them unique. Those faces show the emotion within the heart.
The artist that wrote and or played that song that makes the memories flood my soul becomes someone I love too, not in the way I love my family, but a deep gratitude because the music speaks to my soul in a way that nothing else can.
That movie actor who made me smile, by being an artist in his own right, brought me immense joy. With my portrait painting, I am paying him a tribute and giving him thanks for practicing his art for us all to enjoy.
I think this may be a glimpse into why I love to study and paint faces… and you like to hang them on your walls. :)
And thank you for honoring artists by purchasing their work through the official outlets from which they receive the proper credit due.
